KUMAS – Kompetenzzentrum Umwelt e. V. (Competence Center for the Environment) is kicking off the 2026 conference year together with its cooperation partners, the Bavarian State Office for the Environment, AU Consult GmbH, and bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH, with the 27th Bavarian Waste and Landfill Days on March 25–26!
A total of around 400 participants are expected to attend the two-day conference. The program will cover current issues in the circular economy and landfill technology that are important for plant operators, waste disposal authorities, licensing authorities, specialist agencies, and specialist lawyers, as well as the general public.
The congress will serve as a forum for exchanging information on new legal and technical developments and discussing innovative solutions.
This year’s main topics are:
• Current developments in the circular economy
• Separate collection and recycling of waste as a secure source of raw materials?
• Thermal waste treatment and disposal of sewage sludge
• Current developments in landfill law and the landfill situation in Bavaria
• Neophytes and surface sealing at landfills
• Planning, approval, and construction of landfills
• Immission control at landfills in approval and practice
The generally unsettling global political situation is also having an impact on the requirements and prospects of the circular economy. We need resilience in the supply of raw materials and would be well advised to increase recycling rates in the medium and long term. The 27th Bavarian Waste and Landfill Days will focus on the further development of the circular economy and the current legal framework at state and EU level. Experts will discuss specific challenges such as the recycling of textiles, the recovery of electrical appliances, and innovative approaches to sewage sludge disposal with phosphorus recovery.
Another focus will be on technical and legal aspects of landfill operation, including immission control and approval procedures.
The two-day congress will be accompanied by a trade exhibition where industry-specific companies and service providers will present themselves to participants.
