Nero GmbH

The idea for NERO came to the grill-enthusiast founders during a shared journey through Ghana, where they realized the origins of much of our charcoal. Every year, hundreds of thousands of tons of tropical hardwood are burned in smoking kilns to produce charcoal. Astonishingly, this charcoal is then transported halfway around the world, only to disappear in our grills, never to be seen again.

In contrast, the wood for Nero charcoal comes from sustainable and local forests, such as the city forest in Saarbrücken. The innovative plant in France not only produces high-quality charcoal but also generates eco-electricity for 10,000 households. Sustainable wood sources and modern production methods make grilling with a clear conscience possible, helping to protect our rainforests.
